Bedok Reservoir Park
Who would have known you’ll be able to find an unblocked view of the sunset at the heartlands? Bedok Reservoir Park may just be one of the country’s best-kept secrets when it comes to sunset spots. The park is just a 10-minute walk from Bedok Reservoir MRT Station and if you’re driving, head to Carpark A to get the best view of the sunset. Get there at just the right time and you’ll be treated to a spectacular view of the sunset that’s mirrored on the still waters of the 88-hectare Bedok Reservoir. Henderson Waves Bridge
To get to this spot, you need to hike a little but the view is completely worth the trek. The Henderson Waves Bridge is part of the Southern Ridges hiking trail and connects Mount Faber to Telok Blangah Hill Park. Not only is this architectural marvel Singapore’s highest pedestrian bridge standing at 36 metres, you can see the sunset in its full orange glory from this vantage point. Don’t want to walk the full trail? Enter via the Henderson Waves trail entrance from Telok Blangah Green by following the signs to Telok Blangah Hill Park. If you’re driving, you’ll need to walk from the three nearby carparks: Telok Blangah Green Carparks 1 and 2, and Mount Faber Carpark D.
Lorong Halus
Lorong Halus is a little off-the-beaten track, especially if you’re not from the northeast. Walk or cycle along the Lorong Halus Park Connector towards Lorong Halus Wetlands and you’ll eventually reach the red metal bridge, which was designed to resemble an old, steel railway bridge. Besides being Instagram-worthy, the bridge also offers an amazing view of the sunset. If you’re visiting by car, find the carpark near the Lorong Halus Wetlands, and follow the footpath and find the bridge just past the wetlands education centre.
MacRitchie Reservoir
There are many reasons why Singapore’s oldest reservoir remains a favourite destination, and one of them is for its magnificent view of the sunset. Aside from its famous treetop walk, there are plenty of things to do at the park including hiking, kayaking, and fishing. But if you’re looking for that winning sunset shot, MacRitchie has plenty of spots for that like the Zig-Zag Bridge, atop the Jelutong Tower or by the water’s edge where you can see the sun set behind the park’s lush canopy of trees. By car, the carpark is right by the park’s main entrance. On foot, it’s about a 15-minute walk from Caldecott MRT Station.
Marina Barrage
If you’re looking for a more urban sunset featuring Singapore’s city skyline, the rooftop lawn at Marina Barrage is the perfect spot. Set up a picnic and watch as the sun sets and the city lights go on. The closest MRT stations are Tanjong Pagar and Marina Bay and you’ll need to hop on the bus to get there.
